Mountain Race 48

Superlight crossover BC cross- country ski with 3/4 steel edges

Strong enough to handle rough terrain and hard conditions, yet perfectly at home on the groomed tracks, the Mountain Race 48 is a ski for the quicker adventure.

The ski is also built with Skinlock, allowing the instant attachment of the X-Skin, making it possible to climb more demanding hills and negotiate more demanding terrain with little effort.

Its prominent wax pocket, moderate side cut and 3/4 steel edges, meanwhile, offer stability and control on the descent.

And constructed with a core of paulownia wood for strength and weight, 48mm at the waist, the Mountain Race 48 weighs a remarkable 1520g per pair for the 200cm skis – perfect for leaving the groomed tracks to break trails.

Choosing the right length

Ski length is determined according to body weight and height. The table below is only a guide, however – experience, skill, terrain and individual needs can all influence your choice of length.

Generally speaking, moving through rugged terrain calls for shorter skis than the open mountain plateau. And for beginners, short skis are easier to control. If you’re mainly skiing along tracks, length isn’t the most crucial factor. For good float on deep snow, a slighter wider ski is useful. Lighter skiers might consider a shorter ski; heavier skiers a longer ski. Skiers with loads such as backpacks and sledges might consider a longer ski.
